MN’s Best Advertising Internships (2021)

by | Feb 24, 2021

It’s February, and that means it’s summer internship season…apparently. As always, there are tons of great options for current students, recent grads, or ad industry newcomers.

But, you know, COVID exists. A lot of internships look different for that reason, but there’s something for everyone – those looking for fully remote opportunities as well as those interested in some (safe) in-person work.

Here are my personal favorite advertising internships out there for summer 2021. These are all MN-based.

Carmichael Lynch

The Carmichael Lynch internship is a great opportunity for anyone looking to get started in the industry. After all, they’re one of Minnesota’s powerhouse agencies, and they boast clients like Subaru and Xcel Energy. This is also a paid internship, and it’s anticipated to be remote this summer. At CL, you get to choose the department or departments you want to intern with.

St. Paul Saints

The St. Paul Saints are offering an internship that looks like a great opportunity for those interested in the video production end of advertising. They’re not shy about the fact that it’s a demanding role, but for a Minnesota baseball fan, it could be the perfect job.

You Betcha Co.

Okay, yes. I know it’s lame to list our own. But our internship program is pretty awesome. It offers a mostly remote environment with the opportunity to work on video production in-person. We also offer the flexibility to choose your primary interests in areas like account management, creative services, production, and the like.

Broadhead

If large agencies don’t seem like they’d be your speed, Broadhead might be a good compromise. This team does high caliber work for big name clients, but with a team that’s just a bit smaller than the mega agencies in town.

Fast Horse

This was my dream internship at one point. They never replied to my application, but I don’t hold it against them. Like some of the other internships here, you get to pick your advertising discipline at Fast Horse, and it could lead you to opportunities to work on some of their internationally known clients.

Periscope

Periscope is another heavyweight full-service agency in town. They work with clients like Target and the Minnesota Twins. This year, they’re offering internships in the creative and media departments. This internship is specifically for recent graduates.

The You Betcha Blog is all about stories. What makes them effective? How do we measure their impact? What can we do to start telling them better?
